Notes from the President: Virtual Professional Development Opportunities and More

August 26, 2020

The HRO Today Association has made it a priority to ensure members are engaged and can connect with one another and to professional development opportunities virtually throughout the pandemic. In fact, we’ve been offering virtual learning opportunities all along, but we’ve really stepped up our game the last few months! Our Director of Membership Services, Wendy Metzgar, has done an incredible job securing top-notch speakers to deliver content on the most pressing topics our members are facing right now.

The Association’s Professional Development Livestreams offer members the chance to learn and share HR best practices, tools, policies, resources, trends, and technology. A variety of formats brings together industry-leading experts, including executives, trainers, coaches, authors, thought leaders, and advisors, to deliver meaningful takeaways that improve strategy and overall performance. Recent sessions include:

  • The Future of DEI: Leveraging Connection to Build an Inclusive Culture
  • A Candid Conversation about Racial Injustice and the Positive Impact HR Leaders Can Make
  • How High-Level Women Succeed – and How Do We Up-Level Everyone Else
  • Drive Employee Engagement with Learning and Development Initiatives

We want to hear from you! Share the details of a winning initiative or talk through how you conquered a challenging situation. Contact Wendy Metzgar, Director of Membership Services, at wendy.metzgar@sharedxpertise.com to propose your topic. We are now booking for November and December 2020.

Our CHRO Today Executive Network (C-TEN) continues to meet each month to share best practices and discuss the many challenges members are facing. Most recently we brainstormed on creative ways to keep employees engaged and combat fatigue from setting in. Employee-led chair yoga and meditation breaks, step and water challenges, and lunch and learn sessions have proven effective and fun.

Lastly, the 2020 HRO Today Association Conference will be held using a virtual event platform on November 17th. We have a very interactive program planned, including a live Q&A with a panel of CHROs along with sessions on using HR technology to attract, engage and retain the best talent.

To all members who have chosen to be a part of the HRO Today Association and C-TEN, I thank you. We promise to continue to offer a high-level of educational and professional development opportunities for you to choose from.

I look forward to seeing you on our next livestream session!

Best,

Renee
