Most Women Prefer to Work Remotely

A recent Glassdoor community poll reveals that 72% of women professionals—and 65% of male professionals—would prefer to work remotely. An additional poll reveals that 47% currently have a hybrid work schedule—compared to 52% of male professionals. Many women—and full-time working moms in particular—say that a job having some degree of hybrid work is non-negotiable.

Women who work hybrid schedules say the flexibility of their jobs improves their health, increases productivity, supports them as caregivers, and accelerates their careers. Nearly half (49%) of respondents in a survey from International Workplace Group (IWG) note that they’ve used the flexibility from hybrid work to support their careers. In addition to flexibility, employees can reinvest the extra hours that are normally spent on a commute into their careers, allowing more time for additional education, training, and development.

From more time to relax or sleep (61%), to better eating habits (57%), 96% of respondents to IWG’s survey believe that hybrid work allows for a healthier lifestyle.

The top three industries where women would prefer to work remotely are tech (72%), accounting (70%), and consulting (66%).
